The 36th Montreux Jazz Festival
July 5-20, 2002 as seen by max

Every year, the Festival Jazz of Montreux repeats itself like magic. Back to year 1990, when the PLAN MEDIAS proposed by my group of students of H.E.C. Lausanne has won and has been adopted in its 1991 edition, going to the Festival has become a tradition for me. The moment of the year long waited where I can discover all new trends of MUSIC for the next season!

On year 2000, I realised the Official Virtual Tour of the Festival embedded into their official website and into VRWAY.com - NB. have a look to the city of Montreux and many other places!

This year, after some "classic" encounter with an old friend like Al Jarreau, there were very intresting new groups, especially impressive the Brazil! Night of July 13 in the Stravinski Auditorium, where the new POP STAR of this Country has shaken the hearts of thousand of Brazilians in extasy: HARMONIA do SAMBA, Daniela Mercury, and O Rappa have showned what music the Brazilians' love to ear behind the classics...

Another great performance has been the one of ROY HAYNES's BIRDS of a Feather @Gran Casino's Opening Night on July 11, right before Al Jarreau. The less the beter must be the great motto applied here by Roy and Co. but with great results and with a special eastern flair of the much appreciated pianist Dave Kikoski.

OK, for the this year, it is all!

I promise that for the next year, the coverage of the Festival will be much more extended, and please come back here around May 2003 for more info and the new links to the offcial site.
